Title: No Survivors
Author: [livejournal.com profile] das_mervin
Beta: Mrs. Hyde
Fandom(s): Eclipse/Supernatural
Rating: PG-13 for thematic elements
Word Count: 1,340
Inspiration: Chapter 2 of Eclipse
Warnings: Character deaths, spoilers for “Supernatural” season one.
Summary: Turns out Bella really shouldn’t have gone to Florida that weekend.
Author’s Note: Sometimes, you really just have to kill ‘em all. I would like to apologize as well; I know the timelines don’t match up by about six or seven months, but considering how messed up Meyer’s timelines usually are, this isn’t too much of a stretch.

No Survivors

When Bella boarded Flight 458 for Houston, she initially didn’t think anything of the way Edward glared at the young man with the spiky black hair, the tips colored blue. Edward was suspicious of most men, particularly those that looked unsavory, so Bella was used to it. She supposed it was a result of the incident in Port Angeles over a year ago that made him feel that way, especially when he was with her. Bella didn’t think much of how edgy he was when the man sat across the aisle from them, no one sitting beside them. She supposed Edward was distrustful that a person who looked like that would be flying first class. It wasn’t until they were thirty-five minutes into the flight that Bella thought to ask why Edward kept glaring at him, even though he spent the entire time blissfully unaware of his surroundings, his ears covered by headphones that were playing music so loud that even Bella could hear it over the noise of the plane.

“Edward? Were you listening?”

It was a silly question—of course he was listening. Bella knew from experience that he could follow fifty different conversations at once and be able to jump into any of them with no problems; however, she was a little irritated that he hadn’t been paying much attention to her while she’d talked.

Edward glanced down at her, his eyes troubled. “Of course,” he answered, his voice a little tight.

Bella frowned. “Edward, you’ve been like this since we boarded. What’s wrong?” she asked, huffy.

Bella saw his eyes flicker over once again to the young man across the aisle. “It’s him,” he muttered.

Bella leaned a little around Edward to look at him herself. “What about him?” she murmured back, and then dropped her voice even lower. “What, is he a murderer or something?”

Edward’s jaw tightened. “I don’t know—that’s the point.”

Bella stared for a moment. Finally, she gave up trying to figure out what he meant. “I don’t understand
”

“Bella,” Edward said, sounding agitated, “I can’t read his mind.”

Her jaw dropped. “What?” she gasped.

“Well, not exactly can’t read his mind,” Edward whispered. “I can hear something, but
there is something wrong with him. Any time I try to probe any deeper into his mind, I am blocked, but it leaves me feeling
uneasy.” He glanced over at him again. “I just feel something, but I don’t hear anything.”

Bella bit her lip. “I thought I was the only one you couldn’t hear,” she said in a hurt voice.

Edward nodded. “So did I.” He glanced over once more. “I wish I could hear him—it would give me some peace of mind. Not only does he look entirely insalubrious, but I’m fairly sure he is a drug addict.” He wrinkled his nose a little. “He smells terrible.”

Bella managed a laugh, still reeling a little from the news that she wasn’t the only one silent to Edward (even if she was a little relieved to hear the man in question apparently didn’t smell as good as she did). “Well, don’t worry about it,” she said as lightly as she could. “We’ll be in Houston soon and never see him again.”

Edward sighed, nodding a little. “I suppose you are right. But I’d still feel better if he wasn’t—”

He tensed and glanced over at him when he heard him removing his headphones, and Bella jumped a little when she looked and saw he was staring right at them. He smiled amiably. “Hey,” he said easily. “Either of you two know how long we’ve been up?”

“Close to forty minutes,” Edward answered tersely.

The man bounced his eyebrows. “Wow. Time flies, doesn’t it?” he said, grinning.

Bella saw Edward and the stranger stared hard at each other for a single moment, and then his eyes flicked easily away as he leaned a little to the side to smile widely at her. “Hey, sweetheart.” His grin changed, twisting and turning sly. “You really should ditch Marble Dildo here and get with your own species.”

Bella’s jaw dropped again even as her heart thudded painfully in her chest. Edward stiffened, his arm immediately resting protectively over Bella. She heard a low hiss escape his lips, but all the man across the aisle did was laugh.

“Oooh, look at the little pussy puff up and hiss and show his claws. I’m so scared,” he sneered.

Edward bared his teeth, an action that never failed to terrify Bella—but all she could do was stare in shock as the man’s expression didn’t change. “You should be, human,” Edward rumbled. “If you really know what I am, you would be afraid.”

The man just smirked and, glancing once up at the front to look at the flight attendants, unsnapped his seatbelt and got to his feet. He stared down at them for a moment, and then Bella’s breathing quickened when he suddenly reached for her.

Edward’s hand was around the man’s wrist in an instant, squeezing tight, a growl bubbling up from his chest.

“Oh, you flirt,” the man cooed, and Bella’s eyes popped in shocked horror when Edward’s strength didn’t stop him from continuing to reach for her.

Bella felt sick but relieved when she heard the very audible snap of his wrist when, with a simple twist of his hand, Edward snapped his bones beneath his fingers and then shoved him away back in his seat. The other passengers started shouting when they saw it, and the flight attendants started rushing over—and then Bella stopped breathing when she saw that the man wasn’t even fazed.

“Ouch. That stings,” he said drolly. “My turn.”

He raised his hand—the one that Edward had broken—and clenched his fist.

Edward gasped and clutched at his chest, and Bella screamed when she heard audible cracking and snapping emanating from his body. The man grinned viciously and then waved his hand casually at the crowd of people rushing towards them. They shrieked as they were knocked off their feet, flying backwards and away from him. Bella clutched uselessly at Edward, looking wildly at the stranger—and her scream suddenly caught in her throat, as his green eyes suddenly rolled over entirely black.

His grin still in place and his terrifying gaze still firmly upon her, Bella could only watch as he reached forward and seized Edward’s arm, yanked him easily out of Bella’s grip and to his feet, and, with one quick motion, hurled him towards the wall of the plane.

With a deafening roar and the sudden sound of panicked shrieking, Edward tore through the side of the fuselage, and Bella screamed in horror as he was sucked right into the jet’s engine. With a horrible grinding sound, it exploded into a bright ball of flame.

The cabin was already depressurizing, and Bella was yanked forward and hurled against the opposite side of the plane even as she saw the man who had just effortlessly and gleefully kill Edward get thrown down the aisle as the plane nose-dived, his insane grin still fixed in place. It was chaos, and Bella couldn’t hear anything but screaming and the roar of the plane and the deafening rush of the wind all around her. She could feel them falling, descending rapidly, careening through the atmosphere and toward the ground.

The last thing Bella heard before she mercifully blacked out 3,567 feet from the ground was a terrifying and unearthly voice screaming
no survivors.

Exactly forty minutes into the trip, Flight 458 crashed 390 miles away from Seattle near the Idaho-Oregon border. There were no survivors. Several months later, Flight 2485 from Pennsylvania crashed exactly forty minutes into the trip, killing everyone but seven passengers. Sam and Dean Winchester were called by an old acquaintance to investigate the cause of the accident, which eventually led to the exorcism of a low-grade but particularly unpleasant demon and his permanent banishment to Hell. Job well done, boys. Job well done.

Ha ha, that was awesome.

Phantom Traveller isn't an episode I particularly enjoyed, but I think I'll appreciate it a whole lot more now.

Well done!

I haven't even seen this episode, but I love this demon for taking Bella and Edward out. I pity everyone else on the plane, but I can't help but feel that the demon did two good deeds in its existence, at least.

I especially love the blue-haired guy telling Bella that she ought to be with her own kind, i.e., demons. Of course Bella is a dumbass and doesn't get it, but it was a subtle flick of the knife, nevertheless.

LOL! Never seen Supernatural, but it's good to see a troublesome demon do one thing good by humanity.

Awesome, Merv, awesome! Oh, how I wish they were on that flight. By the way when I first started reading I thought if the implication that Bella is a demon and that was awesome, but then you just went ahead and said it and that was even awesome-er. XD And I loved that episode. If Bella and Edward had died it would've been even better. xD

I'd like you to know, I just started watching Supernatural due to your sporkings, because it looked really cool. I watched this episode YESTERDAY. This must be a conspiration that, somehow, wants me to fully enjoy your reviews.

... best conspiration ever.
