RPattz's way of playing Edward actually... sort of spoke to me? I hate the novel version, he is creepy and wrong as hell, but RPattz plays him as self-hating and troubled, and I think that softens it a bit. Makes him more... real?
You're not the only one who thinks that. So do I. Rob's a much better actor than most seem to give him credit for. But, even so, there's only just so much he can do with the material he's been given. (I watched Water for Elephants last night, and damn near cried.)
Movie!verse Edward is still creepy but, unlike book!Edward, he's just a snarl of self-loathing and confusion, and less of a pretentious prick. And I tend to prefer cute-but-troubled protagonists. It makes me hope movie!Edward will eventually get his shit together, and become a better man.
