There's a delicious irony to this. Bella could have had an amazing life and friends, and epic misadventures if only, if only, she'd been a nicer person and more receptive to their offers of friendship. She could have been friends with a delivery-witch who lives with a mad-scientist uncle. But noooo, she's stupid and shallow and rude, so she gets the boring "drama" of the Cullens.
